Sir Frederick Mitchell Hodgson, KCMG (1851–6 August 1925)〔("death Announcements (H-L) from the ''London Times'' RootsChat.com, quoting ''The Times'': "On the 6th Aug., at 21, Rosary-gardens, South Kensington, Frederic Mitchell Hodgson, K.C.M.G., V.D., late Governor British Guiana, aged 73. Funeral at Brookwood Cemetery to-morrow (Saturday)...." )〕 was a British colonial administrator who was Governor of the Gold Coast (1898–1900), Barbados (1900–04) and British Guiana (1904–11).
==Early years==

Hodgson was the son of the Reverend Octavius Arthur Hodgson, Rector of East Stoke, Dorset, England.
He joined the General Post Office, and worked in the Savings Bank department between 1868 and 1869.
He was Postmaster General of British Guiana from 1882 to 1888.〔(British Badge Forum, quoting ''Black & White Budget'', 1900: ) "Sir Frederick Mitchell Hodgson: Born 1851; son of the Rev. Governor and Commander in Chief of Gold Coast 1898-1900; Governor and Commander in Chief, Barbados, 1900-04; Governor of British Guiana 1904-11. Major Commanding Gold Coast Rifle Volunteers which he raised in 1892; K.C.M.G. 3 June 1899. Married (1883) Mary Alice, daughter of William Alexander George Young, Governor of Gold Coast. Sir Frederick died in 1925."〕
